Ingredients

For the Dough
  • cup all purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • tsp instant yeast
  • 1 large egg
For the Filling
  • cup brown sugar packed
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter softened
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
For the Icing
  • 4 oz full fat cream cheese softened to room temp
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter softened to room temp
  • cup confectioner's sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
Recipe Instructions

Start the Dough
  • Whisk the flour, sugar, and salt together in a large mixing bowl. Set aside.
  • Combine the milk and butter. Microwave or use the stove to heat up until butter is melted and it's warm to the touch. Next, whisk yeast in until dissolved.
  • Pour mixture into dry ingredients and add your egg. Combine with a rubber spatula and mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Lightly flour a surface and transfer the dough. Flour your hands and knead the dough for 3 - 5 minutes until it has become smooth. Place in a lightly greased bowl, cover loosely with a towel, and rest for 10 minutes.
Rollin Time
  • While dough is resting, mix together the cinnamon and brown sugar. After 10 minutes, roll the dough out into a 14 x 8 rectangle.
  • Spread the softened butter on top and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture all over the dough. Roll up the dough into a 14 inch log. Cut into 10 - 12 even rolls. Arrange into a lightly greased 9 or 10 inch pan.
  • Cover the pan with aluminum foil or a kitchen towel and let rise for 60 - 90 minutes in a relatively warm environment or until they double in size.
Bake and Ice
  • Preheat oven to 375 ℉. Bake for 25 - 28 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven and allow to cool while you make the icing.
  • Use a rubber spatula to combine the cream cheese, butter, confectioner's sugar, and vanilla.
  • Place globs of icing onto the slightly cooled rolls, spreading evenly. Serve and enjoy.
