Your family will love these delicious Finger Steaks, an Idaho state classic. Battered and breaded fried steak served with your choice of cocktail sauce or fry sauce.
1½lbsboneless sirloin steakcut into ~ 2½ x ¼ inch 'fingers'
1½cupsbuttermilk
1egg
½cupflour
1tspgarlic powder
1tsponion powder
1tspdry mustard
salt and pepper
For Dredge and frying
2½cupsflour
2tspgarlic powder
salt and pepper
3cupsvegetable oil
Recipe Instructions
Mix together the egg, buttermilk, flour, and seasonings so that the consistency is similar to pancake batter. Add finger steaks and toss to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.
Mix together the flour, garlic powder, and salt and pepper. Remove finger steaks from buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge in the seasoned flour and place on a baking sheet.
In a heavy bottomed pot, add oil and heat until 350℉.
Place a few pieces of steak into the hot oil (don't overcrowd the pot). Fry until golden brown, about 5 minutes, flipping halfway through. Once done, remove and place on a paper towel lined plate. Repeat until all are fried.
Serve with cocktail sauce, fry sauce, or your favorite condiment.
