Materials

  • 6 all beef hotdogs split lengthwise, but still connected (so they open like a book)
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 small white onion finely chopped
  • 2 jalapenos finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 6 hotdog buns
  • 6 oz cream cheese slightly softened

Instructions

  • Heat a cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Add the olive oil. Once hot, add the chopped onion and jalapeno. Stir, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until onions are translucent, about 3 - 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside.
  • Next, add your hotdogs, 'open' side down. Cook until browned, about 2 - 3 minutes, then flipping, cooking for another 2 - 3 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Next, lower the heat to medium and butter your buns. Carefully place the buns- open side down- on the skillet and cook until brown, about 1 - 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • For assembly: Generously smear both sides of the bun with cream cheese. Add a hotdog and top with onion and jalapeno. Enjoy.
