Recipe Instructions
 

  • Reduce the apple cider. Pour your apple cider into a small sauce pan and simmer on low until you are left with about ½ cup. This should take about 15 – 20 minutes. Once reduced, set aside and let cool for at least 10 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350℉. Grease your donut pan with spray. Set aside.
  • Mix your dry ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, apple pie spice, and salt together. Set aside.
  • Mix your wet ingredients and combine. Whisk the melted butter, vanilla, brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg, and milk together. Pour into the dry ingredients, add the reduced apple cider, and whisk everything together until smooth and combined. The batter should be slightly thick.
  • Spoon the mixture into the donut cavities, filling up halfway. You could also fill a plastic zip-topped bag with the batter, cut out a corner, and pipe the batter into the cavities.
  • Bake until the edges are golden brown, about 10 – 11 minutes. Use your finger to poke the donuts. If the donut bounces back, they're done.
  • Let cool for a couple of minutes and then transfer to a wire wrack. Use a spoon to carefully life the donuts out of the tray, or put the wire rack on top and flip over for the donuts to come out.
  • Coat the donuts. Pour the belted butter in one wide shallow bowl. In another wide shallow bowl, mix together the sugar, apple pie spice, and cinnamon.

Notes

*Most grocery stores sell apple pie spice but if you can’t find it, but you can make your own with 3 tbsp of cinnamon and 2 tsp each of nutmeg and allspice.
