Alabama’s Pulled Chicken Sandwich: A Southern Classic

An Alabama pulled chicken sandwich has a special place in Southern cuisine, and Alabama takes this classic to a whole new level. Whether you call it a pulled chicken sandwich or a creamed chicken sandwich, the result is the same: a delectable, messy, and utterly satisfying meal.

Ingredients for Shredded Chicken Sandwiches:

  • Shredded chicken (cooked and seasoned)
  • Hamburger buns (choose your favorite)
  • Pickles (for that extra crunch)
  • Making the Shredded Chicken

To make the best-shredded chicken sandwiches, start by cooking boneless chicken breasts until they’re tender and easily shreddable.

Most people in Alabama are using smoked chicken, which we highly recommend. Since we don’t have a smoker, we roasted ours in the oven and it came out delicious.

Once cooked, shred the chicken using two forks until you have finely pulled chicken.
